VICTORIA FALLOWFIELD Holistic therapist, Chiropodist, Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist. Assoc. Member of The Royal Society of Medicine.

My day starts at 8.30 in the morning. The salon opens at 9.am. I have one therapist working for me and we like to discuss the day ahead.

The salon is my own business. We are attached to a residential and day spa in the Best Western Bell Hotel in Driffield, East Yorkshire.

I have chosen to describe a typical Saturday as this is the most varied and interesting day of our week.

At 9am I have a repeat session of hypnotherapy. The client is very stressed and has agoraphobia. We are working over six weekly sessions, to relax and remove the problems she is experiencing. The first 15 mins. we discuss her week and any improvements and then to update the hypnosis script to make it relevant to her current needs. The three quarter session then follows.

At 10.15 I have a patient with an infected ingrown toenail, and it is a man, they are not very brave! I very carefully perform a partial avulsion to the nail plate, Once removed the patient has instant relief. Then I apply an antiseptic medium dress it and make another appointment to check the healing process.

At 10 45  I have a verucca to freeze if it is the appropriate treatment. A full consultation will help me decide the best method. If the patient is diabetic or quite elderly, freezing would be contraindicated because of poor healing capacity.

At 11am a quick coffee

At 11.15 I have a spa day client for Reflexology and an Indian Head Massage.

12 15 lunch and returning telephone calls for appointments.

12.45 I have another spa client This one is having a Bali Spice massage, hot wrap facial and pedicure. She has also requested Crystal Balancing.

3.15 A local client is having electrolysis, an eyelash tint, and some thread veins removed.

4.15.Another local client is having trouble with ears and sinuses, she is also stressed.
I am going to do some Reiki and Hopi Ear Candles.

5.15 Avery pregnant lady is having a half hr. Hot Stones Facial, I will use base products without any essential oils. The hot stones will be placed on the bed so that when she reclines she will have heat each side of the length of her spine.

5.45 The salon in cleaned, floors washed, all tools autoclaved all tops and trolley surfaces disinfected, bins emptied.

6.00  Home to open a bottle of wine and chill out!!!

The School has played a major role in my on going training. I found it very useful to be able to work over the internet, as it fitted in with my busy schedule. I have found in my business that the more you can offer, the better chance of staying in business, especially in this time of recession.

If any one wants to retreat from this bustling world for a while, this is my website: www.thefragrantretreat.co.uk and click on The Fragrant Retreat.
