Hi, my name is Sue Gray. All those years ago since I left school I have mostly worked with adults with learning disabilities and have done some work with the more mature members of our society. Since late last year have been working with children from 11 years upwards.
I started a course on nutrition last year, by distance learning as this fitted into my lifestyle of work, family life etc. The reasons behind this were due to my work, but also to get a good balance of information so that we could use it at home and become healthier. I then left my job to be at home and spend more time with my two daughters and husband, the three dogs, one cat and the rabbit – all being a job within itself really.
I then looked for something for my brain to do, so that it wouldn't become lazy. The answer was a Health and Lifestyle Diploma course which was an add-on to the NVQ's I had taken as it provided more understanding of structure . I then started up my own business providing information and techniques for the general public and also for clients from the social care sector. The need to let people know that they can control their anger, anxieties and stress has spurred me on since the course. Having the training to actually help people, rather than just empathise, has been great. Saying this though I wanted to add more therapies for the clients that I was seeing and for future clients, enabling them to be more aware of their own well-being and what different alternatives were out there.
I searched through the internet and I saw the School of Natural Health Sciences so I emailed them and got a quick and friendly response. I rang the same day and enrolled on the Indian Head Massage and the Professional Relaxation Therapy courses. I was able to do the courses within my own time, the emailed lessons were punctual and the feed back was excellent. Julia (the Principal) has been excellent too, especially when she emailed and said that I had achieved Grade A's for both of my courses. She has found the time to answer emails and to show an interest in what I am going to do with my latest qualifications.
The two SNHS courses have been a boost to the business as I am now able to help people more and the feeling is great. Within my business I have now started Relaxation Sessions in a local hall so that people can learn to breath properly and exercise their muscles whilst relaxing, how cool is that!! The ability to work the muscles in your body, as in exercise whilst in a relaxed state has been a revelation for some so I am going to take this further and offer this service to more organisations, particularly in the social care field where this will be most beneficial to clients there.
The Indian Head Massage has been a blessing in my house. My eldest daughter doesn't sleep well and as being a teenager she has 'those moods'. Having treatments has helped her a lot. My youngest daughter has trouble with her sinus, yep, this has also helped her. Along with the clients that have also had it, they also say that they feel more relaxed and 'chilled' as one put it .. also the variety of problems that they have seem to have been helped – which is most beneficial.
There will be no 'the end' as I shall continue with my studies with the School of Natural Health Sciences as soon as I am able to.
Many Thanks
Sue
