The courses offered by the School of Natural Health Sciences are ideal for my situation: I studied Aromatherapy many years ago (reading many books and doing day/evening courses only) and practiced on family and friends, (who recommended me to their friends) just out of pure interest.
I had been educated as a medical secretary which helped with medical terminology and had an understanding of physiology and anatomy. It wasn't possible for me to take up holistic therapy work properly at the time, for numerous reasons. I married for a second time and helped my new husband with his business for some years. Sadly my husband had a cerebral haemorrhage with many problems. I was allowed to stay in hospital with him, and immediately started using my small amount of experience in Aromatherapy on his left arm and leg (which were completely paralysed). That was five years ago and he is now able to walk and use his hand and arm reasonably well despite the doctors saying he would not get any use back!
Two years ago I decided to educate myself further in Aromatherapy, and thankfully came across your School's courses, which fitted in perfectly with my having to look after my husband. I also studied Reflexology to the Advanced Level and Flower Remedies through SNHS. Because of my husband's predicament after his stroke (the uncertainty of what each day will bring) and not being able to commit myself to attending courses, I doubt if I would have been able to achieve the qualifications that I have without this mode of learning . I now provide a Mobile Aromatherapy service using organic products.
I am pleased to say that I have gained several clients, from recommendations (which is so nice; it's like a 'pat on the back'!). Being a mobile therapist has proved to be ideal for me as I can arrange my visits to clients around Philip's requirements. I so thoroughly enjoy my therapies and would again like to thank all at the School of Natural Health Sciences for their support and encouragement.
Once I have recouped the cost of my courses and materials, and hopefully gone 'into the black', I will continue my studying with SNHS as I want to add Herbalism to my therapies.
Thanks to SNHS, you have made it possible for me to follow my true vocation.
