From leaving college at 18, I originally worked within the admin sector, from everything from Receptionist, to PA, but was either never 100% happy with my job, or obstacles were put in my way where I had to find alternative employment. In 1998 I became very ill with Glandular Fever and this I feel, saw me leaving the admin sector for good. As my health slowly started to return to a good level, I felt it was time to start a family and so in 2000, my son was born. Sadly, during this happy part of my life, my Husband was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and a cracked vertebra in his spine, which meant that life as I knew it would change completely.
I had been using holistic therapies for quite a lot of years and found that this method of self help definitely helped to ease physical and emotional symptoms along the way, but I felt I needed to know more, so, in 2006, I enrolled on the Aromatherapy & Holistic course at my local Adult Education Centre. I have never looked back since.
This door opened up a whole new world of healing to me and since then I have gone on to gain more qualifications than I could have ever imagined. After completing the TROCN course, I became interested learning more and also in passing information to others and so asked the Tutor if I could help out in her classes of which I did for 6 months or so; in which time, I also achieved Reiki Master / Teacher, as my college teacher was a Reiki Master too.
During this time, I also began studying with The School of Natural Health Sciences (SNHS Ltd) Studying in this way fits into my family life really well, with no pressures or deadlines to meet. I have since gone on to gain diplomas in Crystal Healing, Colour Therapy, Nutrition and Flower Remedies.
I am currently studying NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), with SNHS, as I am also finding myself drawn to how the mind works and am hoping, in the New Year, that I can combine everything I know and help others to heal themselves. I do also feel that teaching, in some form or other, may lie within my future too.
I cannot tell you how much the SNHS courses have really helped me to gain confidence; to achieve diplomas in the therapies I have loved for many years was such an amazing thing for me. Of late, I wondered how I would find the NLP course; this being something completely out of my comfort zone, but I have to say, the staff have been very encouraging and their kind words have been much appreciated.
